You can see here the various functions, such as Basic Statistics, where you can run Descriptive Statistics as well as hypothesis tests. The Stat menu is probably the most popular one. Or look up values based on different probability distributions. Or text values such as names, as well as generating random data from various distributions. Under this menu, you can calculate Column and Row Statistics, as well as Make Patterned Data, where you can generate sets of numbers such as one, two, three, four. The ones that you'll be using a lot in this course will be Unstack columns and Stack and Change Data Type. ![]() Under this menu data can be arranged, stacked, or unstacked and data type can be specified. You have the usual Cut, Copy, Paste and Delete. Or you can download a copy to save it to your hard drive. You know, Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive, as seen here. Save a copy, allows you to save your file online. So, if you want to save your analysis, always save it as a project. Project files contain the worksheet and the output results and graphs that you created. The Worksheet file is just a worksheet containing the data. Those are the two types of files in Minitab. You can start a new or open an existing project or worksheet. First go to File and you see New, Open, Save and Download. Here are the highlights, from left to right. Across the top of the screen are the main menu items. Unlike a spreadsheet where you can apply formulas to any cell, Minitab commands apply only to entire columns of data. This worksheet may look like a spreadsheet, such as Excel but it is not. The lower portion is the Minitab data worksheet. On the top portion, you have the output session window, which is where the results and graphs are displayed. On the left there's a navigator where you can choose what you wish to display. The first thing you see when you open Minitab is this. In this movie I would like to provide you with a quick tour of Minitab's user interface.
